“Kiss it, kiss it better, baby”

Kiss It Better | Rihanna

Here is a simple everyday and bold lip makeup look I created to celebrate the new season Spring. Although it is only spring, it still feels like Fall weather where I live. The weather changes frequently around here. One day it’ll feel like Spring with sunny rays and a nice breeze. Next, it’s like Fall all over again wearing sweaters and booties. In this post, I’ll show you how to create an everyday makeup look with a bold lip. I’ve also included some different options, so you can amp it up based on how bold you want to go.

I wore this specific look to a college event later on that same night. I wanted to make a bold statement and thought a bold lip would be the perfect way to go. Scroll down to learn how I created this look:

How-to: Beauty Tutorial | Bold Lip

Step 1.

Eyebrows

First, I filled in my eyebrows using black eyeshadow, mainly towards the middle to ends of my brow. If you don’t have brow powder or filler, don’t worry, eyeshadow works just the same. I then used a brown eyeshadow to fill in the top portion of my eyebrow to give it a more natural look. Secondly, I used concealer to clean my eyebrows to give it a more defined look. You can also use whatever foundation or concealer is left on your brush from applying your base makeup for your eyebrows. I then used a blending brush to make sure everything was blended together. Make sure it’s blended out well!

Step 2.

Eyes

Next I used my NYX palette for my eye lids. As an everyday wear, neutral shades are my go-to, so I typically start off with brown shadows and build it up to bring a natural color to my eyelid. I also used a crease brush to work in the orange shadow into my crease. Of course, always blend in between and after so there are no harsh lines. Afterwards, I used the Alternative Rock cosmetic to apply blush/shadow to my lower lashline to bring in some extra smokiness to the eye.

Step 3.

Lashes

After making sure my wing is how I want it to be from applying eyeliner, I used mascara next. Who else still pokes themselves with the wand like me from time to time? Haha 🙂 I would love to start wearing lashes, but I’m too afraid to apply them on myself.

Step 4.

We cannot forget about the face! Y’all probably wondering did she skipped foundation. Yes, I did! I stopped using foundation because for one, I don’t like the feeling of it being caked on my face and two, it’s not needed. As you can see, I used the LA Girl pressed powder for my “foundation”. I simply used a beauty blender to pressed the powder onto my face to cover any skin discolorations, like uneven skin tone. I then contoured my face slightly to bring some color and dimension to my face since I’m still pale from the winter.

Base

Next I added highlight to my cheeks and just a small amount of blush so my overall look can look natural since this is an everyday makeup wear with a bold lip.

Step 5.

Lips

Here I am applying the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in the color Stone Fox. It first goes on creamy and smooth and a little goes a long way! Once you feel like there is enough, it quickly dries to a matte finish which I love. I’m a big fan of matte finishes.

Final Look

To finish up this look, I added the NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Stone Fox. The left photo is the final look once I was done with everything. the right is me at the event with some better lighting. Yes y’all. I do wear glasses as I am blind lol. I’m working on purchasing some contacts soon before summer arrives. Also, notice how I did not use any foundation, only powder and bronzer as well as how the color of the NYX lipstick changes to a bluish undertone.

Lip Color

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick: Stone Fox | Deep Grey With Blue Undertone.

This deep gray shade glides on grey and sets into a striking matte finish with a blue undertone. This is definitely the boldest lippie I’ve worn and I love it!

Best of all, it is waterproof! The color may look more bluish depending on your skintone/undertone than grey. This lippie retails for $5.60 on sale, originally price at $7.00

Wanna Recreate This Look?

  • If you feel like this look is too bold, you can first put concealer on your lips to add dimension to the shade. This will also make the color last longer and prevents feathering.
  • Not used to wearing bold lip colors? Try wearing a lip color that matches your skintone or a classic pink or red lippie. Then, blot your lips with a tissue to evenly distributed the color. That way it’ll give your lips some color without having the bold color. Once you’re comfortable wearing the lip color, there will be no need to blot!
  • You can also mix a lip colors together to get a more muted and neutral lip color. I do this all the time with my different shades of pinks and red.
