“You should know you’re beautiful just the way you are…”

Scars To Your Beautiful | Alessia Cara

Bye-bye Spring and hello Summer! In this blog post, I am sharing my summer beauty essentials with you this year; makeup edition. As the temperature is rising, note that you should skip the full coverage look and consider wearing something light. Your make-up will melt if you do not take precautions!

During the summer, I stick to a consistent schedule when it comes to products. I never try to overdo my face with heavy products because trust, when you walk outside and get to your destination, your make-up will not look the same. Whether I’m going to work, an social event or just a weekend getaway, below are some beauty tips that I like to share with you in the summertime.

Base Makeup

This is the foundation, concealer, face powder and whatever else you use on your bare face. Base makeup is extremely important during the summertime because of the sun and heat. If you’re like me, I use whichever base products are working best for my skin at the time. For instance, my face requires oil-free and mattifying products like face powder!

Face

Always start with a freshly, wash moisturized face. We do not want last night’s makeup as we begin a new face today.

Prime

A primer is a great way for long-lasting makeup. Priming your face helps smooth out your skin, covers large pores, and manages shine. I am considered combination skin as my T-zone is always oily throughout the day. I rarely use a primer, but I thought I would throw that in there as a suggestion.

Foundation/Face Powders/Contour

Instead of foundation, I use powder for all things during the summer time. Brow powder, face powder, and contour powder. This helps me greatly with the summer heat. You do not need to wear heavy make-up during the summertime. Let your skin breathe and avoid the creams and liquids as much as you can.

Concealer

Another option is to use lightweight creams instead like BB creams, CC creams, or tinted moisturizers if you are not cool with less coverage. Even concealers can be used as foundation! Simply use a little bit of concealer to cover up your problematic areas and set with powder. That way you won’t have a cakey appearance. As always, don’t forget to blend!

Cheeks

Try to use a natural summer blush and highlighter. Something that is sheer, but buildable that way you can still get the color and shine you want.

Eyes

Make sure to prime your eyelids for a lasting effect and use a shadow that has great quality so that it stay intact while you are out and about.

Eyeliners and mascaras will be your best friend! Make sure to get a waterproof mascara and eyeliner if you do not have one. This will help with pigmentation and prevention of smudging. If you are more creative, glittery eyeliners would work best too as a great tool for a night out.

Lips

My favorite… lippies! Lippies really set the tone of your look. You can pop on a nude/neutral color as a simple look or a bold color for a night out.

Just keep in mind that lipsticks can smudge and melt in the heat and lipglosses can get runny and sticky. Try to go for a more matte lip or lip tints. That way you can avoid the mess from the heat.
