The game need change and I’m the motherfuckin’ cashier

Trey Songz & Drake – Successful

Goals. I believe if you speak it into existence, it shall happened with patience and work. I am a fan of writing down my goals and speaking them out loud. I personally feel like it does something for me. I wanted to share one of the goals I’ve fulfilled recently which was me moving out of state before the year 2020 is up! Keep on reading if you want to know more about how I made it happened.

So I always told myself after a year or so when I graduated from college that I was going to move out of state. I decided this because I felt trapped in the city I grew up in. Don’t get me wrong. I love my city, but I rarely travel out of the 20 years I have been on this planet besides Illinois, which is where most of my family is from and Florida, for a childhood vacation. It wasn’t until I attended college that I explored traveling. My sophomore year I became a member of Habitat for Humanity and experience my first mission trip over Spring Break to Georgia. Being in a new city, a new state at that opened my eyes as an adult that there were more opportunities out there. I just had to get them.

The following year I turned 21 and I realized I wanted to be more active on campus and decided to run for Treasurer for the organization. I was elected and my junior year was LIT! That year we traveled to Louisiana and yes, we went to New Orleans! It was such a sight to see. The culture. The surroundings. So many new things I felt like I was missing out on and that’s when I knew I was ready to move out of state.

After graduating from college in 2017, I was focused on finding an apartment and a job that could support me since I would have real bills to pay. Within a month later, I was approve for my first apartment. Cool right? But how was I suppose pay for it? Gladly, I was recommended by a staff member at the college I graduated from and was hired to work right after graduation. Nothing but blessings came my way during that time and I was so thankful.

Since then I made a promise to myself that at least once a year I will travel someplace new:

  • 2017 –– Lousiana
  • 2018 –– Ohio.
  • 2019 –– Tennessee.
    • If you haven’t check out my vlog and blog post, My Trip to Tennessee! | Memphis & Nashville Vacay
  • 2020 –– Cozumel, Mexico.

I set a goal which was to move out of state in sometime in 2020. My plan was to work and save as money as I could figure out where I wanted to relocate too. I did so much research:

  • asking people opinions
  • researching online
  • figuring out the options I had

As we all know, plans can change at the last minute and that’s exactly what happen. Two trees falling on my car happened. Heartbreak happened. COVID-19 happened. All of these things were factors and I had to take a step and think about is this something I wanted to do right now. I was torn because it seemed like no matter what I do, things take a turn for the bad. I thought I wouldn’t be able to move.

I didn’t let that stop me though. Even though my original plan change, I still ended up moving! Despite it all, I continued to save my money, apartment search and went ahead with my original plan to get a moving truck to bring my big things down. I didn’t let the obstacles stop me from moving. Not even this virus and I am perfectly fine with my choice because not only did one of my jobs transfer, but my finances have been so much better than ever.

I say this to let you guys know don’t let anything stop you from doing what you want to do. Remember there are going to be obstacles in your path but it’s up to you to get past them. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. The worst that could happen is hearing a no. If a no is given, that means keep moving, keep pushing, and keep going forward until you find that yes. Thanks for reading!
